MRI Coil Mechanical Design Engineer

We are seeking an MRI Coil Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at our electronics manufacturing facility in Pleasanton in the Eastern San Francisco Bay area.

In this role, a successful applicant will:
•Design, develop, and test novel flexible MRI receive coils.
•Implement new coil designs, mechanical structures, and materials to meet the demands of the MRI imaging environment, the requirements of coil users, and safety and imaging standards.
•Ensure design compliance with federal and international safety standards for medical devices (ANSI60601-1, IEC 60601-2-33, and ISO 10993-5/10).
An applicant must have:
•Experience with the entire design cycle from inception through release.
•The ability to independently gather and/or assess input requirements and use these to guide idea creation geared toward meeting those requirements.
•The ability to clearly communicate ideas to others, particularly other non-mechanical design and manufacturing staff.
•Strong understanding of plastic materials – especially with fabrication techniques such as injection molding, vacuum-forming, machining, and additive manufacturing.
•Experience with 3D modeling software such as Solidworks, Pro-E, Fusion 360.
•Experience in creating engineering documentation.
•Strong hands-on and “bench” skills.
•The ability to read, understand, and internalize regulatory requirements and guidance.
Preference will be given to candidates with the following:
•Design for medical imaging – especially the MRI environment
•Medical device experience
•Extensive experience in injection molding, compression molding, vacuum-forming
•Electro-mechanical design experience, in which mechanical design supports and enhances electrical design - especially design for anatomical compliance
•Quality Management systems that are 21 CFR 820 compliant.
•Experience in highly regulated design environments, with emphasis on FDA.
Qualifications:
•BS or greater in mechanical engineering or related discipline. Master’s degree strongly preferred.
•The ability to work majority on-site.
•Demonstrated ability to execute design tasks in a team environment.
•Eligibility to work in the U.S.
